2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) County in San Francisco County
The Point-in-Time Count is an Annual Census of people experiencing homelessness and is a crucial initiative to understand and address homelessness in San Francisco. By conducting an accurate and comprehensive count of homeless individuals, we gain valuable insights into their unique needs and challenges. Known Location Surveys:
Sign up to indicate ahead of the count locations you have identified or think a person(s) who may be experiencing homelessness is sheltering (e.g., a building alcove, under a bridge, in a car/RV). The mobile app drops a pin at your location if you sign on in real-time, or you can enter an exact address. This information helps us to prioritize volunteer resources on the actual night of the count. You may sign up for just this option, or this option AND to assist with the actual night count. Additional information can be found here and a 1-minute training can be found here.
Day of the count:
Volunteers will be requested to work in shifts generally between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. (i.e., from check-in to completing counts and surveys at assigned locations to check out). The unsheltered count focuses on teams coming together to drive to designated areas and/or canvass by foot to count at exact mapped locations and complete surveys with willing people experiencing homelessness encountered.
