The HUD PIT Report available in the Command Center now includes the ability to generate that report with demographic extrapolation. This feature allows communities to use their existing data to extrapolate any missing or unknown pieces of demographic data needed to complete the HUD report in the Homeless Data Exchange. While other tools are also available to extrapolate data, this feature within the command center utilizes the data already captured by Counting Us, eliminating the need to key in the raw data to the tool!
NOTE: This approach will create estimates that will often be in decimal and not round numbers. These figures need to be rounded when submitting the results into HUDHDX, and minor adjustments may be needed.
For example, if two out of three people provide a response to the Veteran question, and one says they are a veteran and the other indicates they are not a veteran, then the estimation will be as follows:
If these figures are rounded, then two people would be indicated to be Veterans and two people would be indicated not to be Veterans. This results in a total of four responses but there are still only three people. As a result, a local decision will need to be made as to how to account for this overage.
