This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their ‘Personally Identifiable Information’ (PII) is being used. PII, as used in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your PII.
This policy refers to the Counting Us and Show The Way mobile applications and the related websites: HomelessData.com, PointInTime.info, Counting.Us, and ShowTheWay.org. These websites are used to support staff and volunteers of local organizations which provide services to people experiencing homelessness for the purposes of meeting Federal requirements for regions to conduct an annual Point in Time (PiT) census to determine the extent of homelessness in their region.
What personal information do we collect?
When creating an account on our app, you will be asked to enter your name, email address, mobile phone number, and password.
When do we collect the information?
We collect information from you when you register an account from within the Counting Us application or when your account is created for you by an administrator within the Regional Command Center at CommandCenter.PointInTime.info.
How is your information used?
Registered users of the Counting.Us and Show The Way mobile apps collect and submit surveys along with details on the location of the survey interaction. When used in conjunction with the Point in Time Regional Command Center the regional count administrators can monitor the census in real-time. Having the PII of the user provides the administrator with the relevant contact information needed in order to contact him or her during the count. This helps ensure the overall accuracy of the count. There are also a "Region ID” and "Team ID" fields which should be entered if one was provided to the user by a Regional Count administrator but can be left blank if one has not been provided. These ID fields will help the Count Administrators reconcile count figures with any paper surveys that might be used as a backup to the data collected from the Counting.Us and Show The Way applications.
Simtech Solutions may also use the information submitted during registration to inform you of additional support and trainings that are being made available, solicit feedback on your experience with the app, and to alert you to other future offerings that you might find to be of interest.
How do we protect your information?
Your personal information is contained behind secure networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. A variety of security measures are implemented when a user enters, submits or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.
